The plasma Nozzle
Arc pulling may occur at the beginning and end of the cut. If this happens, the arc will cut into the sidewall of the nozzle, causing damage to the nozzle. When performing edge arcing, start the plasma arc with the nozzle hole centered exactly above the edge of the workpiece. It is important to keep this in mind during punch/plasma operations starting from the center of the pierce. In such applications, the arc should be started from the edge rather than the center of the perforation. Arc draw can also occur at the end of the cut if the torch has been programmed to deviate from the sheet when the arc is on, or if the "leader" follows the kerf of the last cut in the metal. Proper timing and pinout of the arc-off signal can minimize this effect.
